How They Met
The night John and Maura were first introduced in 2006, she mentioned looking for a housemate and he mentioned his sister was looking for a new place to live. John gave Maura his sister Sandra's email and she and Sandra ended up sharing a house in Echo Park (with cousin "Cup" Ly) for four years, where there were many Vu family gatherings. John often helmed the grill and brought turntables for parties, including Maura's 30th birthday party, which she was happy to DJ for a set. While things did not get romantic during this time, Maura and John connected over indie music, the band Denim, and John's DJ crew for the Hungry Beat club night. John won some concert tickets through Maura's radio show, too.

Love True Love
Mutual Swedish friend Daniel Harju created more opportunities for connection on his annual visits to LA. After some memorable meals with Daniel in the summer of 2015, Maura invited John to be a guest on her radio show and the couple started dating a few months later. They've enjoyed traveling, visiting with family, dining with friends, discovering concerts they both attended before they knew each other (Lou Reed and Luna at the Wiltern in March 1996!), dancing at friends' club nights, DJ-ing together at home or the KCHUNG radio station, meeting up with Tren Way Bike Gang and exploring LA by foot and on bikes. The San Gabriel Valley is home to some of their favorite places to eat and they're happy to be celebrating their wedding in the SGV.
